Gearing Up

Big family vacation coming up. Everyone is flying in this weekend to head of to Kauai for a week of relax in the sun, get some tan on, play with the little kids, recuperate from all the vicissitudes of life. I hope there is a guitar there somewhere...

Long Time No Update

I have decided that this is something I can do to spread the family gossip around. I can add a few pics stolen from others and let you know what's going on!

October 11, 2008 was a great day in the French fam. Mike Halverson, a good family friend sealed Jeff and Brooklyn (Brooklyn Daisy Anderson!) for time and allllllllll eternity... It was a great day thanks to all the hard work from family and friends. We will post some pics when they come back from our great photog (Brad Smith). The kids took off to Florida for a honeymoon where they got to relax and have some fun. Now they are headed off to Utah where they have some job opportunities and they will have some family around (tho both moms & dads will be pretty far away :(

Carol and I are hoping to have a chance to put our house together! We are thinking that we might be able to KEEP it clean for a week!

Thanks for everybody's support and help and love during the past month!

Mission Calls

Tyler was gone to work on Friday, February 9, 2007, so he wasn't home when the mail arrived. Mom and Dad pulled the big envelope from the mailbox and, after a moment's hesitation (Mom: "We could just burn it now..... before he knows.....") called him. He and Jeff came rushing home and we got Matt & Ericka on the phone. Tyler sat in the same seat Jeff did and read the letter: "Elder Robert Tyler French you have been called to labor in the

UTAH, OGDEN MISSION --
ENTERS THE MTC ON APRIL 11, 2007

After the initial shock, there was laughter and immediate excitement from Ty. Dad was already trying to figure out how to keep Mom from making a monthly trip to Utah Idaho Wyoming. Jeff pointed out that this is one of the top baptizing missions in the world. MaryLynn Garns' dad opened this mission up in 1988. It was formerly the Salt Lake City Mission, then the SLC North Mission and then Ogden. He opened up the Ogden mission. We are probaly going to have dinner with them next week and will get more scoop. In the interim we only have two months!!! Yikes!!!

This is going to cut into Ty's DJing work!!

North Carolina

Bob and Carol took a couple days and went to North Carolina to visit Joyce and Jim Maddalon, our southeast/east homies. We had a great trip except for the trip, which was actually fine. (Coolio was on our plane coming home - we have run into him several times in our travels!) Carol remembers little of the actual travel time due to her relationship with the dramamine...
Time with J&J was great. Also saw Aubrey (and significant other: Steve) and Bryan, Donna, Janet, Diane & Robin (how did Bob get into this picture?). J&J fed us well. We had deep fried turkey on Friday and Frogmore Stew on Saturday. More on that when we have the photos to add in.
Their house/property is amazing to us Californianos. A 30 x 40 foot pond in the back with a waterfall that Jim built and a creek (sorry, "crick") running behind that. Beautiful cardinals, finches, doves, woodpeckers that Jim feeds every day. Meeting some of the Maddalon friends (they have friends...).
It was fun to get motivated by Jim's hard work to do better on our house!
