Update Moment
Midnight in late October and I am thinking too much...
We had a great Stake Conference this past weekend. The theme came from 2 Nephi 5:27: "And it came to pass that we lived after the manner of happiness."
Our Stake President told us how to do that. He said 1) personal religious observance, 2) strengthen our families, 3) worship at the temple, and 4) provide more service to others. He said that we are going to keep this theme for a while (it was also our theme in 1999!) and he focused on the first idea: improving our personal religious observance. Prayers, family nights, scripture study. It sounds so easy. [President Garns told the HC that this Book of Mormon reading challenge by President Hinckley will be a weeding of our stake... yikes.)
I will add some thoughts about this later, but I wanted to put it down on paper to get me started. I have no doubt that he was inspired to select this theme for my benefit. Sorry everyone else who didn't need it...
I am pretty sure that Heavenly Father wants to bless us. In fact, I think we will someday find out that he blessed us so often in our sin and weakness that we will feel total humiliation if we don't at least TRY to approach him sincerely with our repentence efforts.
I love the gospel and how I fee when I am pondering and discussing it. Why don't I do it better and more?
PeaceOut.
